I love that Julio does his own thing, a young Latino man making weird art for the people who get it. We aren't generally well represented in the offbeat spaces, the places we get slotted into are rigid boxes that don't allow for a lot of flow into a glittery mecca of fantasy which is reductive when Latin American culture is steeped in weirdness. I'm happy I got to see Color Theories live, I'm glad that I was the only one walking into the space who recognized Krisha and the Latinos for Trump line should be on a poster.
